ROYAL BRITISH COLUMBIA MUSEUM

Few museums are truly encyclopedic: the Royal BC Museum holds fine art, history, natural history and archive collections of British Columbia. Working with the leadership team to develop a new vision that tells the complete story of BC by integrating the voices of all communities and provincial natural history, the museum will now speak with a single voice in a totally new structure on Victoria harbor.

Re-envisioning the museum as “one collection of many people — where all were collections containing stories to be shared” drove the planning to create a more inclusive and accessible organization.

“The Functional Programme was put to really good use — since then we have been able to create ideal space models for each of the 5 projects based on the initial programme. It gave us a great platform for the concurrent Master Plan Design.”
